Public Interest Social Justice Law Board Summer Grants

Santa Clara law students who have completed at least one year of full-time or part-time study by May 2021 are eligible for public interest summer grants. To qualify for a grant, applicants must arrange a full-time summer position doing legal work with a non-profit organization having a public service or social justice mission. Some government attorney positions also qualify. Students who have secured a position prior to the application deadline will receive priority consideration. Students who receive academic credit for a summer job are not eligible to receive public interest summer grants. The deadline for all summer grants is noon on Friday, March 17, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted. There may not be sufficient funds to award grants to every student who applies. Question and Answer 21 of the Frequently Asked Questions explain how to apply. Here is the application page.

Richard P. and Madé S. Berg Social Justice Public Interest Summer Grant

The Law School plans to award approximately eight grants for students who will be working in civil jobs and approximately four grants for students who will be working in criminal law jobs. Additional information about the Berg Grant.

Justice John Paul Stevens Fellowship

LGBT Legal Issues Summer Grant

The Law School plans to award one or two grants. To qualify, applicants must arrange a full-time summer law position with an organization that does legal work on behalf of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender individuals and/or people living with HIV. Supriya Bhat Public Defender Summer Grant

Harry and Jean Gluck Social Justice Law Fellowship

The Law School plans to award one grant. To qualify, applicants must arrange a full-time summer law position with a public interest or social justice organization. Grants from law firm partners

The Law School plans to award one or more grants funded by contributions from law firm partners, which, for 2021, are Fenwick & West, Hoge Fenton, and Cooley LLP.
