The book American Justice on Trial: People v. Newton won multiple prizes in the categories of history, law, multiculturalism and social change. In this program, retired judge, author and filmmaker Lise Pearlman will air a clip of her documentary in process about one of the most impactful trials in American history. She will be joined by Hon. D. Lowell Jensen (ret.), the prosecutor in the state’s death penalty case against Black Panther Huey Newton, and constitutional law scholar Associate Professor Margalynne J. Armstrong for an interactive discussion of the case that forever changed jury selection in American courts, and highlighted the power of diversity to create a credible justice system.
