Course Description:
Students must attend a mandatory training class on the first Saturday of the semester. Thereafter, students must spend between 25 hours (for 1 unit) and 75 hours (for 2 units) assisting and advising unrepresented litigants at the Courthouse Self Help-Center, which is located at 201 North First Street, San Jose. Students will provide this assistance under the supervision of an attorney on Wednesdays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Students taking 1 unit do NOT need be available for the entire 11-3 time slot on Wednesdays; they only need to schedule approximately 2 hours per week during that slot. Students may not take more than one interviewing and advising class in the same semester. Graded Credit/No Credit.

Credit/No Credit. Consumer/Debtors Practice Area. Credit/No Credit. Students must remotely attend a mandatory training class on Saturday, August 20 from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. Thereafter, students must log 25 hours assisting and advising unrepresented litigants, and performing related activities. Students will provide this assistance under the supervision of an attorney. The Courthouse Clinic operates from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday during the semester (except for Wednesdays which are Administrative Mondays). After registering students will be asked to sign up for interview slots that will earn them the 25 hours required. As a practical matter, students will need at least a 2.5-hour block of availability from 11:30-3 on Wednesdays to get to the courthouse and conduct interviews.
