Venezuelan Supreme Court Justice Fernando Ramon Vegas Torrealba will be speaking about “Democracy Under the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela” at a faculty forum on Monday, April 17 from noon- 1:00 p.m. in the Strong Common Room in Bergin Hall.
Justice Fernando Ramon Vegas Torrealba is a member of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice in Venezuela. As a civil and labor litigator he argued numerous cases before the old and new Supreme Tribunal of Justice. Prior to his appointment, he served as Director of Education of DISIP, the Venezuelan intelligence and security police. In that capacity he helped outline the new responsibilities and designed training for public officials under the new Bolivarian Constitution and international human rights agreements. Justice Vegas Torrealba is an expert in commercial relations and has written and lectured extensively in this area. He participated in the negotiation of various international trade agreements involving companies with operations in Venezuela.
