The Santa Clara Law Review recently announced its selection for the Executive Board for Volume 49. The new Executive Board members include:

Thomas Hartnett, Editor-in-Chief, joins Law Review after four years of working as a sushi chef. He graduated from California State University Long Beach, learning a B.A. in Political Science. During his 1L summer, Thomas was a research assistant for Professor Lia Epperson and Professor Ellen Kreitzberg. He once spent the night on a sidewalk to watch the Supreme Court oral argument in Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, and his love of oral argument led him to participate in several Moot Court and Trial Team competitions during the school year. This summer, Thomas will work as a judicial extern in the Pro Se department of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Shannon Pedersen, Managing Editor, joins the Executive Board with over ten years of professional experience, primarily in the medical device industry. Last summer, she worked at both Senior Adults Legal Assistance in San Jose and the Santa Clara intellectual property firm Aka Chan LLP. This summer, she will work for the firm Nixon Peabody in San Francisco. Shannon holds a B.S. in Microbiology, cum laude, from Oregon State University.

Julianne Harper, Senior Comments Editor, joins the Executive Board with a diverse academic and cultural background. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of San Diego where she received a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish with a minor in English Literature, summa cum laude. Prior to attending law school, Julianne studied the political and social effects of post-apartheid reform in Cape Town, South Africa and was a journalist for Mensajero Madrid in Madrid, Spain. After completing her first year at Santa Clara University School of Law, she studied International Human Rights at the University of Oxford in Oxford, United Kingdom. She also served as the Speaker Chair for the International Law Students Association. This summer, Julianne will work in Palo Alto as a Summer Associate for the WilmerHale law firm.

Summer Krause, Senior Technical Editor, joins the Executive Board with diverse academic and professional experience. Prior to law school, she spent eight years working at the Alternate Public Defender’s Office in Santa Cruz. Summer also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children placed in the dependency system. Upon completing her first year of law school, she interned at the Watsonville Law Center, a non-profit organization providing direct legal services to low income residents of Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties. This summer she will work as a Summer Associate for DLA Piper in the Palo Alto office. Summer also graduated with honors from University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Legal Studies and Women’s Studies.

Katelyn Knight, Senior Articles Editor, spent last summer studying Jurisprudence at Magdalen College in Oxford and plans to spend this summer working for Fenwick & West LLP in Mountain View. Prior to law school, Katelyn worked as an accountant for Zac Posen in New York. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
