Santa Clara University’s School of Law is one of the country’s best law schools, according to Princeton Review’s annual ranking of law schools in the U.S.

The Princeton Review’s 2006 edition of its law school guide features rankings based on surveys of students attending the schools profiled in the books and on institutional data it obtained from the schools.  The company surveyed 15,000 law school students asking them to rate their schools on several topics and report on their experiences at them.

“SCU’s reputation for its academic excellence in teaching, legal scholarship, and service to the community makes it a stimulating and challenging environment for law students. Our distinguished faculty, staff and engaged alumni help in continuing the law school’s progress and the growth of its national prominence," said Donald Polden, dean of the law school.

Here are some of the comments from SCU law students:

“Santa Clara is a great school for people interested in intellectual property law, particularly patent law.”

“The professors are the greatest strength of Santa Clara.”

“There is a great willingness for SCU alums to help other students coming out of Santa Clara.”

“SCU has one of the most diverse compositions of any law school.”

Students in the law school entering class in fall 2005 scored in the top 23 percent on the national Law School Admissions Test.  The LSAT was taken by an estimated 143,000 aspiring law students in 04-05.  The law school also enrolled graduate students in its LL.M programs in international law, intellectual property and technology law.

“The academic strength of our students as well as the diversity of experience and backgrounds that they bring make SCU a school of choice for many aspiring lawyers,” said Jeanette Leach, assistant dean, admissions and diversity services at SCU School of Law.
