For the first time since the downturn began in 2001, Law Career Services is hosting the largest number of employers for its annual fall recruiting season.  “We have over ninety registrations in our fall recruiting program this year,” reports Assistant Dean for Law Career Services, Alexandria Bullara.

The annual fall recruiting season includes on-campus interviewing program that runs 4 weeks beginning September 12 and a resume collection service.  Both components have grown steadily over the past two years.

Dean Bullara believes that this can be attributed to targeted employer outreach as well as the fact that the program now offers employers more options. “It was definitely a team effort.  With regards to employer outreach efforts, everyone in LCS has one goal in mind- get more employers on campus.  The increased flexibility of our fall recruiting program has also definitely helped.  In the past, if an employer did not want to come to campus, we didn’t offer any other method for them to recruit students from Santa Clara.  Now, if an employer wants to test student interest, they can collect resumes,” explains Dean Bullara.

The strategy has proven to be effective as several employers that collected resumes last year decided to interview on campus this year.  The office has also stepped up its employer outreach efforts with the addition of another staff member this past spring.  These efforts have also increasingly targeted smaller firms and government agencies.  “Historically, these types of employers have been resistant to recruit through a formal on-campus interviewing program, but we have had some success with several new additions to the program this year, such as Lawrence Livermore Laboratories and Hopkins & Carley,” reports Dean Bullara.
