Luis Rodriguez B.S. ’89, J.D. ’92, has been elected president of the State Bar of California. He is the first Santa Clara Law alumnus, the first Latino and the first public defender to hold the office.
Mr. Rodriguez currently serves as vice-president, and will be sworn in as the 89th president of the 243,000 organization in October.
Mr. Rodriguez is the son of Mexican immigrants, and was the first in his family to attend college. He has worked for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office since 1994.
