Anthony M. Kennedy, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, will be speaking Monday, October 18, 2004 at 3:30p.m. in Mayer Theatre.
He will address the law school community and participate in a presentation by the Judge William Ingram Inn of Court at Santa Clara University School of Law.
Justice Kennedy received his B.A. from Stanford and the London School of Economics (1958) and his L.L.B. from Harvard Law School (1961). He was in private practice in San Francisco, California (1961-1963), as well as in Sacramento, California (1963-1975).
He was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1975. President Reagan nominated him to the Supreme Court, and he took his seat February 18, 1988.
Since joining the Court, Justice Kennedy has written many thoughtful and provocative opinions on American constitution law and policy, business, and administrative and regulatory law.
