Ellen Kreitzberg spoke with NPR news discussing how people who are convicted get sentenced to death.
“…it has to start in the district attorney’s office, because the district attorney in each county will make the decision whether to seek the death penalty in any particular case. It’s really almost unreviewable. So as people in Los Angeles know, for a long time under Jackie Lacey, she was deciding to seek the death penalty in a huge number of cases over the years, and their new district attorney has decided not to follow that pattern.”
