Ellen Kreitzberg was quoted in a Mercury News article about Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen abandoning pursuing the death penalty in all cases.
Ellen Kreitzberg, a Santa Clara University law professor and death penalty expert, said she welcomed news of a change in prosecuting philosophy.
“A decision to stop seeking the death penalty is a very important milestone on the road toward social justice. It has taken far too long, but this finally puts our DA and our county on the right side of history in recognizing that the death penalty is morally indefensible,” she said. “Hopefully, this will be an example to other DA’s around California.”
