David Ball spoke to KTVU Fox 2 News about the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, and what’s next for police reform.

“New York City banned chokeholds in 1993, and yet Eric Garner died as the result of a chokehold. So it’s one thing to say you’re going to ban chokeholds and it’s another thing to talk about what happens when an officer uses a chokehold, and how you’re going to enforce that ban.”

Professor Ball also spoke to the East Bay Times about whether guilty verdicts for Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd could spur more charges against police. The article also ran in the Mercury NewsDaily DemocratMarin Independent Journal, and over 10 other news outlets.
