Berta Hernández-Truyol will be speaking at Santa Clara University School of Law on Thursday, February 8th from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the de Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University. This lecture is co-sponsored with the Center for Global Law and Policy. A wine and cheese reception will immediately follow the lecture. The reception is co-hosted with the PI & SJ Coalition, LaRaza, Women and Law, and BGLAd.
Berta Esperanza Hernández-Truyol is the Levin, Mabie & Levin Professor of Law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law where she teaches international law, international human rights, and specialized, interdisciplinary, graduate seminars on human rights including Women in the Americas and Trade and Human Rights in the Americas. She is the faculty advisor to the Florida Journal of International Law and a permanent member of the planning committee of the Annual Conference on Legal and Policy Issues in the Americas. She has been teaching in the area of international law and human and civil rights for over twenty years and has taught at New México, St. John’s, and Georgetown. Her writing focuses on international human rights and her particular interests lie in exploring issues of gender, race, culture and language. She has urged the use of human rights norms in domestic fora in order to promote the rights of women and racial/ethnic/linguistic minorities.
