Anna Han spoke to NBC Bay Area about a data recovery company that has stated it will keep the data from a consumer’s crashed hard drive, after they didn’t provide him with the files he’d requested and he didn’t pay.
“When this company threatens to sell your data, they are basically holding you hostage,” said Anna Han, a professor of law at Santa Clara University.
