Santa Clara’s student team has advanced to the decisive oral competition round of the nationwide ABA Law Student Tax Challenge. Joe Myszka, a third year student in the JD/MBA program, and Bonnie Wright, a third year student pursuing a joint Santa Clara JD and a Master of Science in Taxation degree from San Jose State University, will compete before a panel drawn from top tax practitioners and government officials on January 18-20 at the ABA Tax Section meeting in Hollywood, Florida. They submitted one of the top six papers describing a solution to a complex business tax problem involving choice-of-entity and executive compensation issues in the acquisition of a privately held corporation.
