Fariba is a proud graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law and was admitted to California Bar in 1993. She has served as adjunct professor at SCU Law teaching family law, community property and advanced mediation.

Fariba has dedicated her career to access to justice, conflict resolution and violence prevention. Since 1998, she has supervised Santa Clara County Superior Court’s Self Help Center and Family Law Facilitator’s Office, including the Restraining Order Help Center, where she and her team of 11 attorneys and paralegals assist self represented litigants to get access to courts for contested issues and settlement efforts. Prior to that, she was in private practice litigating and mediating family law and probate guardianship matters.

She was an appointed Commissioner on Santa Clara County’s Domestic Violence Council from August 2004 to June 2018 (past chair). In October 2019, she received the DVC’s Champion of Peace award for over 20 years of dedication to preventing family violence in Santa Clara County. Fariba also received the Angel Award from California Lawyer Magazine as one of the State’s top pro bono attorneys for helping to develop the Domestic Violence Limited Scope Representation Project at Pro Bono Project of Silicon Valley. She has also either written or contributed to drafting nine family law and violence prevention bills that have been signed into law.

Fariba was born in Iran and moved to the U.S. in 1977. She is the very proud parent of three adult children, who did not go into law but are serving in health related careers.
