After graduating from law school, Ruth Silver Taube clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte, District Court Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose. She has previously worked for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the San Francisco District Office as a Federal Mediator where she mediated employment law disputes and conducted technical assistance trainings.  She was also a roster mediator for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division for Americans with Disabilities Act cases.  She was formerly an Associate Attorney at the law firm of Cotchett, Illston & Pitre. She is currently a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Silver & Taube, Special Counsel to Legal Aid at Work, and Of Counsel to Step Forward Foundation.

Prior to law school, Ruth Silver Taube taught English at Njala University College in Sierra Leone, West Africa. She was also a journeyman machinist, President of Machinists Local 547, and Field Representative for Service Employees International Union Local 535.

Ruth Silver Taube was an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law where she co-taught a clinical class on Mediation of Employment Law Disputes. She has guest lectured on human trafficking, equal pay, employment law, ERISA, and mediation at Stanford University School of Law, Hastings College of Law, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Santa Cruz County Women Lawyers Association, the San Francisco County Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the National Association of Unemployment Insurance Appellate Boards, and various public agencies and community organizations.
