A San Francisco native, Cooper established the boutique law firm QWCooper in 2006 to leverage his experience as both outside counsel and senior in-house counsel. In that time, he has both represented and negotiated with emerging companies and Fortune 100 companies worldwide. His previous work as counsel included positions at Silicon Valley companies such as Vantive, PeopleSoft, eGain, Siebel Systems, and Oracle. At the latter two, he also gained valuable business insight thanks to responsibilities in corporate and business development.
Cooper has wide-ranging experience that gives him an in-depth understanding of the laws governing commercial transactions and general counsel for technology companies.
Cooper has also spent time as an adjunct professor at the Santa Clara University School of Law, where he earned his JD degree in 1997, and at the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business, where he earned his MBA in 1998. He also studied Computer Law at the University of Oxford during the law school’s semester abroad program and earned his BA cum laude at the University of San Francisco. Cooper speaks at various conferences on a variety of technology transactions and intellectual property topics.
