Nima Sohi

Assistant Clinical Professor of Law; Assistant Director, Office of Academic & Bar Success

Professor Sohi teaches first-year Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing (LARAW) and is a faculty member in the Office of Academic & Bar Success. In his Academic & Bar Success role, Professor Sohi is available to counsel all students on a range of issues, including upper-division course scheduling. His focus is on working with first-year students as they adapt and transition to the law school learning environment. He advises on study and time-management strategies, exam preparation, and exam-writing.

Professor Sohi also assists with running the first-year Academic Success Program (ASP), including supervising the upper-division ASP fellows, facilitating workshops, and coordinating practice exams. As a part of the Academic & Bar Success faculty, Professor Sohi assists with Bar preparation programming and teaches Advanced Legal Writing: Bar Exam (ALW).

Prior to joining the Santa Clara Law faculty, Professor Sohi practiced civil litigation for 14 years, specializing in complex commercial litigation and most recently public entity litigation as Deputy County Counsel for the Contra Costa County Counsel’s Office. He also taught Legal Research, Writing and Moot Court as an adjunct professor at UC Hastings College of the Law.
