Courtney McCausland

Courtney McCausland is a practicing immigration attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area. Leading the Removal Defense team at Catholic Charities East Bay, she represents families and individuals placed in removal proceedings before the San Francisco Immigration Court and maintains a regular appellate practice. She has a particular passion for serving women. Prior to entering the non-profit world, Ms. McCausland worked in private practice at a boutique immigration firm in Oakland. Ms. McCausland also lectures at UC Berkeley School of Law, in the LL.M. Legal Research & Writing Department. She is active with numerous professional organizations, including the American Immigrational Lawyers Association (AILA) and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP).

A native of the Midwest, Ms. McCausland received a B.S. in Anthropology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her J.D. from Michigan State University. After graduation she moved to Scotland to complete an LL.M. in Human Rights Law at the University of Edinburgh. In her spare time, Ms. McCausland enjoys singing with The Choral Project and exploring the Bay Area food scene.
