The Santa Clara Law Review Sports Law Symposium scheduled for March 20th has been canceled due to public health concerns on the campus and concerns about speaker travel. We are sorry to cancel this outstanding educational program but it is necessary under the circumstances. The university will refund any registration fees that you provided soon.
The Law Review and Law School are planning an online educational program featuring the symposium speakers, as well as their printed materials, and we expect to have those plans completed and published within a week. You will be invited to access that program and listen to the presentations and participate online. If you are interested and haven’t registered, please do so by registering on the link provided below. Register as Faculty/Student and do not pay MCLE fee. We will contact you in the next several days with information about this “digital, on-line symposium”. In addition, we will post information about the online digital symposium on this event page. Abstract:
On March 20, 2020, the Santa Clara Law Review will host a national conference on emerging directions, trends and major issues in U.S. and international sports law and policy. The program will feature leading sports lawyers and sports law professors discussing some of today’s most important sports law issues.
Symposium topics include:
- Mental and other health issues facing athletes
- California (and other states’) recent legislation on college athletes receiving compensation for use of name, image and likeness
- International Olympics and anti-doping measures
- Eligibility of Caster Semenya and transgender Olympic athletes
- Sports gambling challenges after Supreme Court’s Murphy decision
- NCAA efforts to preserve its concept of amateurism
- Collegiate athletics risk management and compliance issues

Continuing Education:
