Dates and Times: Four Wednesday evenings, February 6, 13, 20 and 27, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Location: Santa Clara Law, Charney Hall, Room 326
Tuition: $300 for all Workshops; $100 for individual Workshops; $250 and $75 for registrations 30 days before program, or for gov/non-profit
Tuition, due at registration, is fully refundable, minus $50 cancellation fee, up to two weeks before the course
Gain insight and skills in problem solving from expert mediators and academics versed in state-of-the-art theory and practice. Register for any or all workshops to gain confidence and expertise in managing others, managing yourself, and working in teams.

February 6, 5-7 pm – When the problem Is CONFLICT
- Dana Curtis, Director of the Conflict Resolution Program, teaches mediation internationally, including at Harvard’s PON.
- Colin Rule, a leader in Online Dispute Resolution, developed programs for E-Bay and PayPal before starting his own company. He teaches ODR at Santa Clara Law.
Topics include: Understanding conflict – how it escalates, its upsides and downsides, our habitual responses to it – and best practices for managing it, with others and within ourselves.

February 13, 5-7 pm – When the problem is a DIFFICULT PERSONALITY
- Dana Curtis
Topics include: Understanding and dealing with high-conflict personalities, the power of self-persuasion, staying calm amidst the conflict storm.

February 20, 5-7 pm – When the problem is within US
- Richard Birke, a highly-regarded trainer, is Executive Director of the JAMS Institute, the teaching and training arm of JAMS.
- Dana Curtis
- Hon. Jamie Jacobs-May (Ret’d), a prominent Bay Area mediator with JAMS, teaches negotiation at Santa Clara Law.
Topics include: Neuroscience of conflict, biases and other psychological barriers to problem solving, addressing our own internal problem-solving barriers.
- February 27, 5-7 pm – When the Problem Is COMPLEX
- John Bates, a sought-after Bay Area mediator with JAMS, has conducted several thousand mediations in 30 states.
- Lisa Kloppenberg, is Dean of Santa Clara Law. She teaches and writes about Appropriate Dispute Resolution.

Topics include: Recognizing and analyzing complex problems from a systems design perspective, mediation and engaging a mediator, being an Accidental Mediator and Online Dispute Resolution
