Speakers
Nandi Chhabra, General Counsel at Peloton Technology
Nandi Chhabra is General Counsel at Peloton Technology, a Mountain View, California-based truck connectivity and automation startup developing platooning technology. At Peloton Technology, he advises on legal, policy, and market development issues including corporate and commercial law, product liability, and regulatory matters. He has worked previously in the White House and the United States Senate. Nandi holds a JD/MBA from Stanford University, and an A.B. from Princeton University.
Dorothy Glancy, Professor of Law at Santa Clara University School of Law
Professor Dorothy Glancy is nationally known for her extensive work in the area of privacy and transportation law. Under a grant from the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation, she directed a legal research project regarding privacy and intelligent transportation systems. She has also been a consultant to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in the San Francisco Bay Area, worked with the United States Department of Transportation regarding privacy policy issues, and served as a consultant regarding legal and regulatory issues for the United States Department of Transportation’s Rural Interstate Corridor Communications Study Report to Congress (2007).
Robert Peterson, Emeritus Professor of Law at Santa Clara University School of Law
Professor Robert Peterson has been a frequent contributor to the field of insurance law as it relates to autonomous vehicles. Along with his role as the Director of the Graduate Legal Programs, he specializes in civil procedure, torts, product liability, and evidence.
Steve Wood, Assistant Chief Counsel for Vehicle Safety Standards & Harmonization, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Steve Wood has spent many years as a leader of the NHTSA rulemaking attorneys. Steve has been an active influencer in the development of a number of federal regulations on automotive transportation and continues to modernize regulatory practices in anticipation of emerging fields such as autonomous vehicles.
Mark Lyon, Partner at Gibson Dunn
Mark Lyon is a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and the Chair of Gibson Dunn’s Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems practice group. Mark has over two decades of experience representing clients in litigation, regulatory and transactional matters involving intellectual property and data rights, cybersecurity and privacy issues, and commercial matters involving numerous technology areas. A frequent lecturer and author on legal issues raised by new and emerging technologies, Mark is also an active member of the law committee of The IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, which will soon release version 3 of its guiding publication, “Ethically Aligned Design.”
Sven Beiker, Managing Director at Silicon Valley Mobility
Sven Beiker is an expert in the automotive and high-tech topics. He has a special focus and background in autonomous, connected, electric, and shared vehicles. Sven is the Founder and Managing Director of Silicon Valley Mobility which advises clients on the future of mobility along with the trends of automation, communication electrification, an commoditization.
