Dear Members of the Santa Clara Law Community,

As our students, faculty and staff settle into the rhythms of fall semester, I too am settling into my new surroundings, and quite frankly, loving all that Santa Clara Law has to offer. In just a few short months, I have seen resilience, camaraderie, and an unparalleled commitment to student learning. Joined together by our shared mission, enduring values, and ambitious goals, our beloved community continues to overcome the challenges presented by our ongoing pandemic and is emerging stronger.

We are “Rising Together”!

As one community, we are raising the academic credentials, diversity, and outcomes of our students; we are soaring in stature and reputation; we are extending our dedicated teaching and impactful research; we are stretching skyward from this valley of innovation and unbounded economic opportunity, and we are building the future of justice.

In order to continue “Rising Together,” we will join with one another in the invigorating process of articulating, celebrating, and building on our distinctive strengths. In the course of meeting with our alumni, benefactors, community partners, and employers of our graduates, I would love to hear your perspectives about the defining characteristics and distinctive strengths of a Santa Clara Law education.

In addition to hearing your thoughts regarding our distinctive strengths, I genuinely want to get to know each and every one of you. Throughout the fall, I hope to connect with you at small receptions hosted by our alumni in their homes, in law firms and in-house legal departments who have invited us to discuss our shared vision for Santa Clara Law, and during Law School Reunion on Friday, October 8, 2021, where we’ll be welcoming all alumni back to our beautiful campus and Charney Hall.  Knowing how excited I am to meet the members of our greater Santa Clara Law community, our Admissions, Career Management and External Relations teams are regularly seeking opportunities for us to get together. If you would like to attend a regional reception, invite our leadership team to speak at your firm or in-house legal department, or become more involved with Santa Clara Law, please send us an email at lawalumni@scu.edu. We are thankful for the many ways that you support this special community.

With warm regards and tremendous gratitude,

Michael J. Kaufman signature
