Course Description:
This course gives students an opportunity to enhance their advocacy skills through representation of individual clients in immigration cases pending before the United States court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Students will represent clients under the Ninth Circuit’s Pro Bono Program, which appoints counsel for certain applicants appearing pro se before the Court. Cases selected for the Pro Bono Program present issues of first impression complex issues of fact or law, or meritorious claims warranting further briefing. The Ninth Circuit’s Pro Bono Coordinator has requested that Santa Clara University School of Law participate in the Pro Bono Program. Pre-requisites Public Interest and Social Justice Law Certificate course. ( 2 units).
