Judge Zecher was sworn in as a judge in January 2011 on the Santa Clara County Superior Court having previously founded a law firm dedicated to family law matters. From January 2011-January 2021, Judge Zecher was assigned to the criminal division of the court with extensive experience in misdemeanor and felony jury trials including two capital cases. During her time in the criminal division, Judge Zecher served as the supervisor the misdemeanor team (2013) and as the supervisor of the criminal division (2018-2020). In January 2021, Judge Zecher was assigned to the Family Division of the court where she serves as an all-purpose judge for family law matters.
Judge Zecher has a particular interest in ethical challenges faced by judges and lawyers both inside and outside of the courtroom. She regularly co-teaches a Temporary Judge Bench Conduct and Demeanor course to attorneys who serve as temporary judges for the court. She serves on the California Judges Association Ethics Committee (2016-present), and she presently serves as Vice Chair of that committee. She is also a member of the California Judges Association Elections Committee and serves as a member of the Family Law and Criminal Law Curriculum Committees for the Judicial Council. Her service on court committees includes Budget and Finance and the Temporary Judge Committee which she presently chairs.
Judge Zecher is a double Bronco (BA Philosophy 1984, JD 1987) and credits the time she spent at Santa Clara University with instilling in her a deep commitment to service of others and ensuring that our justice system is accessible to all.
