A message from Mark Dighton, PLI Practicing Law:
Sorry that the coronavirus crisis prevented me from coming to speak at your school about the Patent Bar Exam. (I’m as healthy as can be, and hope the same for all of you.) But we think it’s still important to impart the key information.
You don’t need to wait until you graduate law school to take the US Patent Office’s Registration Exam…the Patent Office only cares about your engineering and science degrees or coursework. So most law students now study for and take the Exam during the summer. And probably the sooner, the better. It might make you more marketable. We don’t assume any knowledge of patents on the part of our takers.
For more information on the Exam and our course, go to our FAQs page and/or our homepage. If you want, watch an archived version of a similar talk on the Exam and/or watch Gene “IP Watchdog” Quinn talk about how we draft our practice questions. Let me know if you have any questions after that. With all of my travel plans cancelled, I’ve got time to answer all of your questions. ; )
