Join Clarence B. Jones, Dr. King’s personal lawyer, political strategist and speech writer during the last 7 years of his life, and others, as we honor Dr. King’s 90th birthday; revisit his core beliefs and commitments; and explore how his moral clarity and vision might guide us to address the forces of backlash, retrenchment, white supremacy and nationalism – in what Dr. King called “the fierce urgency of now.”

Clarence B. Jones is President, CEO and Co-Founder of the Gandhi King Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice at the University of San Francisco. He is also Scholar in Residence at Stanford University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute, where he has written and published two books about his experiences with Dr. King.
Margaret M. Russell is a law professor and Interim Associate Provost of Diversity and Inclusion at SCU. She is a member of the American Law Institute and serves on the Advisory Board of the Gandhi King Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice; the American Constitution Society; and the Museum of the African Diaspora.
Jonathan D. Greenberg is scholar in residence, Director of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Project at Stanford Law School’s Gould Center for Conflict Resolution, and Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Gandhi King Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice.

The Santa Clara–Stanford Conflict Resolution Workshop series is a collaboration of the two law schools to bring nationally recognized practitioners and scholars to the Stanford and Santa Clara Law School communities and the general public. Through interactive programs, audiences explore issues of interest in the field of conflict resolution and engage in conversations across differences.
