The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which takes effect in 2020, gives Californians sweeping rights including the right to access their data, the right to delete their data, the right to know certain details about what information businesses collect and how they share it, and the ability to opt-out of businesses selling their data. This complex piece of legislation will impact both offline and on-line commerce in ways that cannot yet be anticipated and it has the potential of ushering a new era of data regulations in the US.

Please join us for a discussion led by Alastair Mactaggart (the proponent of the ballot initiative that led to CCPA), Lydia de la Torre (professor at SCU Law) and Lindsey Tonsager, (Covington & Burling LLP) about what the CCPA is and what it means for Californians, for the Silicon Valley and for the future of data regulation in the US.

Free event but registration is required.
