Hoge Fenton Public Interest Fellowship

Hoge Fenton is pleased to partner with Santa Clara Law to support the Hoge Fenton Public Interest Fellowship. This fellowship will provide funding to support one Santa Clara student each summer to do a public interest summer internship.

About Hoge Fenton

Hoge Fenton is a multi-service law firm headquartered in Silicon Valley, with highly focused practitioners who can exceed most of our clients’ ongoing legal needs. As a member of Mackrell International, a premier network of independent law firms in 60 countries, our firm’s reach extends around the world allowing us to seamlessly assist our clients in San Jose California and San Jose, Costa Rica. Mackrell International has been named a Top Ranked Chambers Global Leading Law Firm Network.

Hoge Fenton has a long and strong tradition of commitment to our local communities. Our members serve on many local nonprofit boards and provide pro bono legal service to those in need. The firm has a similar commitment to the legal community and, over the years, we have been recognized for such leadership and dedication. 13 of our alumni have served or are currently serving on the Bench: eight in Santa Clara County Superior Court, two in Monterey County Superior Court, one in the California Court of Appeal, and two in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Hoge Fenton also has a long and strong connection to Santa Clara University School of Law, having hired many graduates since the firm’s founding in 1952. As of June 2018, the firm had 15 Santa Clara Law alumni on our roster.

Working at Hoge Fenton

Diversity: Hoge Fenton has a strong commitment to diversity, both here at the firm and in the legal profession. We strive to recruit and retain a work force that welcomes and supports the interests of women, families, and people of any ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity/gender expression. Hoge Fenton strongly believes the firm should reflect the communities in which it practices. Diversity is essential to the success of our firm. Our firm owners are 58% ethnic minority, 42% women, and 8% self-identify as LGBT. Our attorneys are fluent in Bambara, Dioula, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Marathi, Punjabi, Sindhi, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Key Recruitment and Retention Initiatives: A distinguished, former Hoge Fenton partner who is now on the Bench founded the esteemed Bay Area Minority Summer Clerkship Program. The firm has actively supported the BAMSCP every year since its founding, and law clerks who have participated in that program have received and accepted offers to join our firm. Hoge Fenton also relies heavily on attorney word-of-mouth, professional networking, and alumni connections in identifying strong associate candidates. Our most effective recruiters are our own attorneys, both those who are fresh out of law school and practitioners with many years of experience.

Associate Openings: We hire depending on our business needs, and don’t necessarily hire newly admitted associates every year. When we do have openings, they are posted on the Careers page of our website: https://www.hogefenton.com/careers/. Even when we don’t have a posted opening, however, we always welcome submissions.
