2Ls Charles Huh and Marinna Radloff from Santa Clara Law took first place in the CalBar Environmental Law Negotiations Competition, despite strong performances from their final three competitors: UCLA, LMU, and Thomas Jefferson.
The CalBar Environmental Law Negotiations Competition is an annual competition open to 20 teams of students (two students per team) from any California law school. The Competition consists of 60-minute negotiation rounds based on general and confidential fact patterns released several weeks before the Competition. Charles and Marinna participated in weeks of practice moots with a generous group of volunteer Santa Clara Law students, and judges at the Competition expressed how impressed they were with the team’s level of preparation. As a team, Charles and Marinna displayed a level of attentiveness and professional conscientiousness that ultimately set them apart from their competitors.
Honors Moot Court is a team effort and a big thanks is owed to the team’s magnanimous Attorney Coach, Martin Kopp ’12 (Corporate Counsel, Ooyala), and the ever-organized HMCE Competition Coordinator, Angela Nelson 3L.
