Santa Clara University School of Law has a long tradition of educating public interest and social justice lawyers who give voice in the legal system to marginalized, subordinated, and underrepresented clients and causes. The law school’s 10th annual fundraising event supports programs that enable students and graduates to practice in areas such as child and family advocacy, disability law, elder law, consumer protection law, criminal law, immigration law, and environmental law. The event will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. on the Santa Clara University campus.
The Benefit for Justice raises money for the law school’s Public Interest and Social Justice Endowment, which in turn funds Public Interest and Social Justice scholarships, summer fellowships, and debt repayment assistance for graduates practicing public interest and social justice law.
More than 400 law school alumni, students, faculty and staff, local government officials, and public interest and social justice advocates and supporters are expected to attend the event which features a live and a silent auction, entertainment, food, a DJ, and dancing.
The public and businesses are invited to donate items and services. All gifts will be acknowledged in the benefit’s program, which also includes paid advertising. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by law.
