The entering class of 2004 was selected from the largest pool of applicants in the history of the School of Law. The 5,289 applications represent a 104 percent increase over the number of applications received just three years ago. From this large pool, the Admissions Committee selected an exceptionally talented class with high LSAT scores and outstanding academic credentials.
The 324 new students were attracted from 31 states and 109 different undergraduate schools. Women make up a record 54% of the class. Forty-nine percent are from ethnic minority groups traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession. This percentage reflects an ongoing commitment to diversity, as recognized by U.S. News & World Report, which ranks Santa Clara University School of Law among the top ten most diverse law schools in the country.
“Nearly a fourth of our new students tell us they were attracted by our High Tech program and nearly that many, by the Social Justice program” says Julia Yaffee, Senior Assistant Dean for Student Services.
