The Benefit for Social Justice was held Friday, September 10, in the Arts and Sciences Builiding, where students and professors alike came dressed in their finest to support a worthy cause. The annual event is sponsored by the Public Interest and Social Justice Endowment, and money raised from the event funds summer grants for SCU law students.

Bidding at the auction. The evening began with a silent auction for items such as movie tickets, and enjoyable weekend getaways at local vacation spots. When people were not bidding on the silent auction items, they mingled with fellow classmates, introduced themselves to other students, and got to know some of their professors.

Following a well-catered meal, the live auciton began with a bidding war for a dinner for twelve with Dean Polden and several professors. The starting price was $150, but the bids rapidly escalated. When the bidding reached a stalemate, the auctioneer increased the dinner to twenty people plus class outlines. The final bid ended at a whopping $1,350. A high price to pay, but well worth it for a commendable organization.

After the live auction came to an end, the music was turned up, inspiring people to get out of their seats and dance. All who attended not only supported the social justice endowment, but experienced a priceless opporutnity to spend a remarkable evening with fellow classmates and professors.
