Santa Clara University School of Law is pleased to present Benefit for Justice 2005, an auction fundraiser that provides funds to the Public Interest & Social Justice Endowment at Santa Clara University.  This year the Adobe Lodge will host the Benefit for Justice 2005 on Friday, September 16, 2005 at Santa Clara University. The Public Interest & Social Justice Endowment provides scholarships, summer fellowships, and debt repayment assistance to alumni practicing in public interest and social justice law. Eligible students are committed to public interest and social justice legal work and often take public interest and social justice jobs as volunteers or on a low-pay basis.  These funds enable students and alumni to practice in areas such as child and family advocacy, consumer protection law, criminal justice, disability law, elder law, environmental law, and immigration law, all of which benefit the community at large.

The Benefit for Justice 2005 will be our biggest fundraising event of the year.  It brings together over 300 students, faculty, and alumni of Santa Clara University, as well as the entire Santa Clara Valley community.

The Benefit for Justice 2005 will be from 6:30 – 11:00 p.m., on Friday, September 16th at the Adobe Lodge.  Guests will enjoy dinner, beverages, and entertainment at a historical site with the opportunity to bid on many wonderful items in the silent and live auctions.

This year, the Benefit for Justice 2005 silent auction is online! Silent auction items include dinners at local restaurants, stays at hotels, tickets to local attractions, and much more. You may bid at http://scu.auctionanything.com from now until September 22nd. In order to bid, you must register free of charge. Currently we have 90 items online and more are added every day. The online silent auction is a great way to support the Endowment even if you are unable to attend the actual the event!

The live auction will begin at 8:30 p.m. Live auction items include parties and dinners with Santa Clara Alumni, BarBri course(s), and dinners with prestigious Santa Clara Law School professors. Computers will be provided in the Adobe Lodge to bid on silent auction items. Dancing will follow the live auction.

Tickets are $45 per person (students are $30), and include the meal, beverages, dancing, and the opportunity to bid on many exciting items!  (Tickets at the door are $50/$35.)  Further information and advance ticket sales are available by contacting Kalila Spain and Mary Thorpe, Benefit for Justice Chairpersons, at (408) 551-1827 or benefitsforjustice@scu.edu.
