Professors Evangeline Abriel and Yvonne Ekern lead an international student field trip to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Students from the Santa Clara University School of Law LL.M. program in United States Law; dual LL.M. program with Danube University Krems, Austria; Semester Exchange program with Bucerius Law School, Germany; and Visiting Scholar program attended the field trip.
The students heard three oral arguments before Judges Wallace, Rymer, and Trott, on a variety of issues, followed by a short tour of the historic courthouse. The judges spent about forty minutes speaking directly with the students on the comparative administration of justice, judicial philosophy, the role of the courts in different countries and in the development of the country’s government and society, and the United States Constitution.
