Over 40 alumni volunteers are expected to attend Law Career Day, Law Career Services’ most popular event, on Saturday, January 28. Law Career Day, held each January-just as first year students are beginning to explore summer job possibilities-provides a chance for alumni to help students learn more about different areas of practice and employment opportunities in various legal work environments. Students are given lists of alumni attending and their areas of practice so that they can talk informally to those who have the inside story on what it’s like to work for firms, big and small, government and nonprofits, in different substantive areas of practice. According to Alexandria Bullara, Assistant Dean for Law Career Services, students find the event appealing because it provides an informal and relaxed environment for interacting with alumni. The event normally draws more than 100 students.
Law Career Day begins with the “Practice of Law” panel discussion, from
Participation in the “Meet the Attorneys” networking event is open to all alumni. Past participants include judges and attorneys from a wide variety of practice settings, including solo practices, small, medium and large law firms, in-house counsel, contract negotiators and administrators, public sector and public interest organizations and the judiciary.
