The ABA recently approved the addition of two unique new summer law study abroad programs to the extensive School of Law offerings. Students now may study comparative law and the law of cultural properties in Istanbul, Turkey. Students now also may study comparative law of the European Union in Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest over the summer.
Both of these programs are unique in their offerings and structure. In Istanbul, which is in the process of positioning itself to join the European Union, students not only will study comparative law with an emphasis on the laws of the Middle East, but also will be able to study the emerging laws of cultural property. Students will have an opportunity to visit an archaeological dig, and attend classes taught by experts in the field of cultural property.
The Vienna/Bratislava/Budapest program begins in with a study of European Law from the Austrian perspective. Students then take a boat up the Danube River to Bratislava, where they continue their studies of comparative EU law in the growing city of Bratislava, Slovakia. The students complete their studies in Budapest, one of the most historic cities in Eastern Europe.
These two new programs are added to the existing programs in Australia (Sydney), Costa Rica (San Jose), England (Oxford), Germany (Munich), Hong Kong/Shanghai (China), Japan (Tokyo), Netherlands (The Hague), Singapore, South Korea (Seoul), and Switzerland/France (Geneva/Strasbourg).
