What is unconscious bias? What should you say or do when you see or hear stereotyping? As lawyers, do we have a special obligation to speak up?
On February 5 from noon – 1:00 p.m. in Bannan Hall, Room 139 we invite the community to have a conversation about race, ethnic, and gender bias in our lives. We hope you will participate and hear different voices on this issue.
Linbergh Porter, former president of the San Francisco bar, partner at Littler, recipient of the Charles Houston Bar Community Service award, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Community Service Award and a frequent speaker on this topic will lead the discussion.
Mr. Porter, a 2006 “Super Lawyer” according to the Law & Politics Publishers and one of the top four employment attorneys in the San Francisco Bay Area according to The Recorder in 2004, takes pride in his ability to become a strategic member of a company’s legal team. He approaches every engagement with a winning plan that aligns with the client’s particular circumstances. Client satisfaction is his goal both as a litigator and counselor, and trial and settlement results are how he measures success. Enjoying an impressive track record, Mr. Porter is an effective advocate for his clients’ interests.
