Chio Saephanh, a second year law student at Santa Clara University School of Law received the AABA’s Summer Law Grant.
This summer Chio has been working at the Alameda County office of Bay Area Legal Aid, providing legal assistance through the housing unit to low income clients. As part of her summer project, Chio has engaged in an outreach program to the lu Mien, an underrepresented and linguistically isolated community having a significant population in Alameda County. Her interest in working with the lu Mien community stems from personal experience growing up in a refugee family.
The AABA hopes this scholarship will help further Chio’s goals of serving the Asian American community.
