Devin Kinyon

Associate Clinical Professor; Director, Office of Academic & Bar Success

Professor Kinyon directs Santa Clara’s Office of Academic & Bar Success.  He oversees the first-year Academic Success Program (ASP), upper-division Directed Study and UP Point advising, and Bar Exam preparation at the Law School.  Professor Kinyon has an active counseling portfolio.  He meets with students on a range of issues, including: transitioning to law school, effective learning strategies, exam-writing, and preparation for the Bar Exam.  Professor Kinyon teaches Legal AnalysisAdvanced Legal Writing:  The Bar ExamProperty, and Community Property.  He is active in the Law School’s diversity initiatives and programming for first-generation students, and advises the LGBT law student organization.

Prior to coming to Santa Clara, Professor Kinyon worked in service-learning, leadership development, and transitional programs at UC Berkeley. As a law student, he represented low-wage workers in USF’s Employment Law Clinic, and received CALI Awards for Excellence in Poverty Law and Rebellious Lawyering seminars. He clerked in the BART General Counsel’s Office, the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, and for Legal Assistance for Seniors in Oakland. He has also taught in USF’s Academic Support Program.
